Celebrate Veteran's Day

November 11th is Veterans Day and may we not only enjoy the holiday and the barbecue but may we also remember the significance. Take time to appreciate the men and women that are protecting our country. Give your children or those you influence a history lesson on the character and qualities that have made America great.

I grew up in Rhodesia,Africa,(now Zimbabwe),and although in many respects it was an adventure and provided a thrilling childhood it gave me this perspective.

AMERICA

America is free
Some places it is hard to be,
Everyone can see that
America is free.

People tremble at the thought of war,
Not knowing what might be in store
Or outside the door.

Children fear for their parents so dear,
Life is so dreary,
Everyone's hope is that it will be more cheery.

May the hope to be free always be,
Maybe they will find the key,
To be free.

Julie Magers Soulen photographs pop, as we would say on Etsy, they capture life for all time. I have selected a few of my favorites for this article. You may view Julie’s work at: juliemagerssoulen.blogspot.com, juliemagerssoulen.etsy.com, juliemagerssoulen.twitter.com,and juliemagerssoulen.facebook.com; visit her websites to view her dipictions of life in the American west.

The above photograph reminds me of a spot in Crestline, California, where my parents scratched their initials and the date on a tree.

The photo of the bluebird is both simple and profound. God is definitely in the details!

In the above photo it looks as if the sky has a ceiling. An amazing cloud formation!

I enjoy Native American art and culture and the above statute is incredible.

So take a break and view the phenomenal talent of Julie Magers Soulen Photography.

il_430xN_73894111Sterling Silver jewelry is my weakness in life. I collect it. This is an amazing sterling sliver cuff with one of the most well known Bible verses engraved onto it. So when you are searching for an inspiring gift for that special friend or relative consider this amazing cuff. One thing people in this world need is positive affirmation.

il_430xN_73386217 Another one of my favorite pieces from Studio618 is this business card holder. Again inscribed with an encouraging message.

May the sun bring you new energy every day.
May the moon softly restore you by night.
May the rain wash away your worries.
May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk gently through the world and
know its beauty all the days of your life.
~ Apache Blessing

Utilize this item to inspire your favorite entrepreneur with this classy business card case. Business cards are like keys they signify a rite of passage to responsibility.

il_430xN_75176048 This is the neatest representation of the Tree of Life that I have ever seen. I love the braided edge! Purchase this for your favorite book worm.

il_430xN_53171271Star of David Earrings with blue Swarovski sapphire crystal dangles. The blue gives the earrings a softer look.

il_155x125_63409285 Last but certainly not least, what seems to be a favorite among Etsy Secrets sellers and a favorite of mine, the Scroll Ring. A must have for any Bible scholar!

Meeabee was one of the first two followers on this new blog. Thank you Jacqui!

Her shop specializes in these wonderful drawstring backpacks for children. Her blog is: http://bloomingnihon.blogspot.com. Her Etsy shop is: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5367229

This pack is one of my favorites. Fabric featuring construction transportation. It reminds me of my favorite children’s author Richard Scarry. As a matter of fact, I clicked on this item looking for his characters. So the next time you are searching for a bag to store your child’s blocks in or that carry all for him to take along think of meeabee and purchase this cute bag.

il_155x125_55129210 Another of my favorite items from Meeabee’s shop is this green apple book bag. Don’t you just love green apples? I love green apples! I love apple pie! I’ll even eat it for breakfast. Uncooked, the best part of the green apple is the peel. While making pie you will find me snacking on the peelings. Green apples must be mixed with cinnamon and sugar to be sweet, so remember to add some spice your life and save me the peelings.

You Inspire Me

You Inspire Me

Steve Green - Find us faithful Lyrics

We're pilgrims on the journey
Of the narrow road
And those who've gone before us line the way
Cheering on the faithful, encouraging the weary
Their lives a stirring testament to God's sustaining grace

Surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses
Let us run the race not only for the prize
But as those who've gone before us
Let us leave to those behind us
The heritage of faithfulness passed on through godly lives

CHORUS:
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
May the fire of our devotion light their way
May the footprints that we leave
Lead them to believe
And the lives we live inspire them to obey

Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful

After all our hopes and dreams have come and gone
And our children sift through all we've left behind
May the clues that they discover and the memories they uncover
Become the light that leads them to the road we each must find

REPEAT CHORUS

Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful
Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful

How many times in your life have you heard someone say this to you,"You Inspire Me," I have actually heard it a lot. Inspiring people usually don't set out to inspire others they just do in how they handle the challenges life throws their way. I actually am an introverted person and I like to do the high process, behind the scenes work and every time I learn I am the trendsetter. One example is last year I was swimming laps at the YMCA twice a week as a result of having had knee surgery. I worked my way up to 60 laps per week. The other women began swimming laps and telling me, "You Inspire Me." They were there mainly for the social outlet and they began to see the true health benefit of perseverance.

The lyrics of the song above, "Find Us Faithful," are special to me as they also speak of perseverance. Inspiration is born out of perseverance. The moment of inspiration comes out of faithfulness to a craft, cause, or relationship. When I was in college I sang alto in the show choir for the college and at graduation and we sang this song. The best part was that my older brother, Dave had finally decided college was worth finishing and he had attended during my final semester and I was now officially handing over my college to him for the next three years. He said I inspired him to follow in my footsteps and finish.

Well now my brother Dave is among the great cloud of witnesses after leaving a heritage of footprints and watching for me to come behind him. That's why in my Flip flops challenge piece the flip flops are in the clouds. "Run with Perseverance the race marked out for us..." Hebrews 12:1

Go out and inspire somone today!

Kindness can't be bought or sold
for gold which you can hold or mold.
Kindness is a smile which can go miles through
someone's trials.

Kindness is a helpful deed
for someone in need.
Kindness is a smile which can go miles through
someone's trials.

Kindness is a helpful deed
for someone in need.

The kindness you show
May return to you.

Julie M. Harrison, c.1981-2009

What is your definition of Kindness? Do you treat your patrons and fellow Etsians with kindness or are you climbing the business ladder without any regard to the consequences towards others? According to the dictonary Kindness is a noun, "a state of being," "a behavior."1 So kindness is a trait that must be learned and practiced. I challenge you to consider ways to implement kindness in your business. Let Etsians be known all over the web as,"those kind, considerate people." I am not calling anyone out, I just know and hope that Etsians are my demographic so I want this article to be applicable.

One of tangible ways Ju's Creations demonstrates kindness is by donating to various charitable causes. So, it works like this, the more inventory sold the more money will be donated. So as you consider the various gifts you need to purchase throughout the year, consider how Ju's Creations may help you meet your needs.

I still would like to donate the proceeds of this item to Cora's Playground, so as you help me, I will help her.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a great week!

Ju

Embroidery was a craft that I can remember my mother and grandmother participating in. My mom had inherited an antique metal spring action hoop and between watching her and watching my friend, I decided one day that I would like to learn how to embroider. Cozy Kittens was one of the first patterns that I used. It took me a long time but I made a table cloth for my doll's tea table. I was hooked! The next project would take me from 1977-1982, to complete. I was bored one day and needed a project and we had received some Aunt Martha Christmas transfers from America, so I asked my mom if she could help me design a Christmas table runner. We ironed on the designs in an afternoon and I spent my spare time ebroidering an heirloom. In 1979, I joined a afternoon girls club in my neighborhood and they were teaching embroidery and they inquired if I wwould need a project; I showed them my table runner and continued to work on it steadily until it's completion on New Years Day 1982.

When I founded my business in 2005, my cousin told me I would not make any money as embroidery is such a small niche and a dying art. We attended the Del Mar fair and he apologized since woodworking, embroidery, and quilting was in the same building. One of the most encouraging books I've read about business is Do What You Love, And the Money Will Follow.

Keep believing in your art. Anything worth doing takes time. Keep your dreams in focus.
